Looking for a Square job? St. Louis has 200 of them
ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Mobile payment processing company Square is opening a new office in St. Louis. The office will initially create 40 jobs and grow to more than 200 employees by 2020.
“There’s talent all over the country, not just on the coasts,” said Jim McKelvey, co-founder of Square. “St. Louis business owners who accept payments with Square have already contributed more than $85 million to the local economy, and we’re thrilled to be even more ingrained into the fabric of the city.”
With three other offices in the United States, Square will use its new St. Louis location to better meet its sellers’ needs in the Midwest. Employees in St. Louis will span multiple job functions, including compliance operations, customer support, IT tech, recruiting, and office experience.
Square, which was founded by St. Louis natives Jack Dorsey and Jim McKelvey, offers a device that allows merchants to accept credits card payments via a cell phone or other mobile device. The company moved to Silicon Valley early in its development to take advantage of a larger pool of tech talent and financial resources.
