Osprey Imaging flies high with innovative drones

GREENWICH, Conn. – Founded 18 months ago, Osprey Imaging, an aerial drone photography and cinematography business, has grown exponentially, according to William Granruth, the company’s president.

The Federal Aviation Administration has recently loosened federal regulations to provide exemptions for certain commercial uses for drones, and Osprey Imaging has taken advantage. Controlled by remote control, drones are unmanned aerial vehicles that can hover within feet of subjects in order to take pictures and film.

Currently Osprey has 8 drones and 8 employees and has built long-term relationships with sports clubs and high-end real estate firms. The sports teams use drones to film practice and broadcasters are adding them to their productions whereas real estate firms are utilizing Osprey’s products for end-to-end marketing solutions. In the future, Osprey intends to broker arrangements with service providers like photographers, web designers and search engine optimization specialists.
