Silicon Forest puts Eugene among nation’s up-and-coming tech cities
EUGENE, Ore. — According to a new study by employment website ZipRecruiter.com, Eugene is one of the nation’s up-and-coming tech cities. The Eugene and Salem areas were ranked tenth on the list based on the reputation as the “Silicon Forest,” local tech companies’ emphasis on renewable technology and the availability of jobs for programmer analysts, QA analysts, network and systems engineers, IT services managers and software developers.
ZipRecruiter based its rankings on cities with job growth that offered a low cost of living, nearby universities for tech talent recruiting and research resources, and a continuous sources of entry level employees. Overall, the top five up-and-coming cities were Austin-Round Rock, Texas, Raleigh-Cary, North Carolina, Provo-Orem, Utah, Fort Collins-Loveland, Colorado, and Hartford, Connecticut.
